MASSACHUSETTS PROVINCIAL BATTALION
Col. Jonathan Bagley’s 3rd Regiment,Bagley’s Regt., Blake’s Grenadiers, Young’s Rangers, Attached Artillery, Mollies, Goodwives and Followers.
The Best in Battle Reenacting!
This living history group is organized solely for two purposes:
- Educating the public about the life and times of men and followers from MASSACHUSETTS REGIMENTS during the Seven Year’ War (French and Indian War)
- To enjoy colonial tactical experiences
Our major emphasis shall be to help increase the ability of living historians and historical sites achieve quality interpretation. We are dedicated individuals and want to excel in our chosen time of historical research. We wish to see the portrayal of the thousands of Americans who fought in Massachusetts Regiments portrayed at historic sites and living history gatherings around the U.S.
We are a family unit and wish to keep with the comradeship developed through the family associations we develop by our friendships. We not only bring our individual families into participation but work hard to create a FAMILY UNIT during events, gatherings, parties and in front of the public and after the public leaves us in the evenings.
We pride ourselves in expanding our research and sharing the information we find. We dedicate ourselves to constantly strive for the authenticity of our BATTALION. We have over 200 primary documents to draw our research from at present ranging from diaries, letters, orderly books, journals, and assorted papers. Finally we have our own fortified blockhouse on private wooded acreage. This serves as the headquarters for our unit. We also host several events through the year at our fort that we have named Ft. Bagley.
We also have several artillery pieces to enhance our interpretation. We have over 50 families in our organization.
Gents, I apologize if I am bothering you with my email, but I saw your unit at the Strawberry Moon event in Grand Haven this year and thought you might be a possible source of info. I am attempting to get into Revolution War reenacting and live in Western Michigan, but am having trouble finding any colonial units in this state. Are you all aware of any such units?
I appreciate your time, and wish to compliment your group, very highly. I reenact as a French milice member for the F&I period, and seeing your camp at the event was wonderful and seeing your unit deploy on the field was a bit hair raising for a poor milice fellow like me! Kudos on all the hard work, and I’ll see you on the fields!
Respectfully,
