The Cass River Encampment at Frankemuth was a great success! Trish took some pictures and has them up at Photobucket (choose from Civilians or Soldiers). A slideshow of her Soldier and battle photos are shown at the bottom.

The Battalion made a showing at the Kalamazoo Living History show once.  This year the shows venue was substantially upgraded and the new building is very very nice.  The show was roomy and easy to navigate compared to its cramped site in previous years.  Below is a  photobucket feed of the pictures Trish took at the show.  (Explaining the random dress pictures…)

Thanks to everybody that made it out to the show and we look forward to participating again next year.

Ted, a reenactor for over 35 years, passed away at his home in Cadillac, Michigan Sunday August 14. He was only 61. Ted was known by many. He had a gruff exterior, but for those who could see beyond that, was a kind and good friend. Ted was a good colonial reenactor primarily doing French and Indian War. His specialty was his knowledge of Native Americans and the British and American Indian Departments.  I first met Ted on opposite sides of the battlefield, but really got to know him as members of Jaeger’s Battalion of Roger’s Rangers. Ted was the Lieutenant and stuck up for me once, which I will never forget. I became Sergeant in the group and we had many good times. Ted held several titles in the Battalion.

Come and see the Battalion in action this weekend at the annual Feast of St. Claire in Port Huron Michigan.  I’ll let the event’s official site describe it…

“Every year a special committee of the Port Huron Museum of Arts and History presents a living re-enactment of 18th centry life on Memorial Day weekend. This Open to the Public event consists of over 600 re-enactors with more than 100 colonial style camps set up in beautiful Pine Grove Park (on the St Clair river) in Port Huron, Michigan. This year will be the 31st consecutive year for this very informative and educational event.”

Come check us out if your looking for something to do this weekend.  Its worth braving the weather for.
